Captain Richard M. Steele
 

Captain Richard Steele was a founding member of our Atlantic Rhododendron and Horticultural Society as well as a mentor and a friend.

 

Although he passed away March 14th 2010 his impact and influence on horticulture will remain with us forever.

Why NSAC and what is the Endowment?

 

Nova Scotia Agricultural College believes one person can make a difference in the world.

 

Our innovative, problem solving research and hands-on practical education programs are addressing the leading issues facing agriculture and contributes greatly to our ability to support healthy, sustainable communities.

 

To celebrate Cpt. Steel’s work as one of the great horticulturist of his generation, this fellowship will be awarded to a graduating student for post graduate study and research.

 

The emphasis of the fellowship will be placed on developing an advanced level of appreciation for horticulture.

Pine Grove Park Dedication 

in memory of Cpt Steele

 

In June 2010, amid the spring profusion of bloom and among many of his friends in the Atlantic Rhododendron and Horticulture Society, Bowater Mersey dedicated Pine Grove Park in Captain Steele's memory.
